Ekonomi Kreatif Andalan (EKA)

About the Organisation

The EKA (Ekonomi Kreatif Andalan or “Trusted Creative Economy”) NGO was founded in 2017. This organisation operates at the grassroots level. EKA NGO works on several emerging issues at both the local and global levels, including:

  • Environmental issues, conservation and global warming

  • Environmental education for school children and the community

  • Peatland restoration, rewetting, revegetation

  • Social, ecotourism and community economy based on sustainable agriculture.

 

Since incorporation, EKA has experimented with growing cayenne pepper and cacao on peat soil and keeping bees to produce honey. They also do chicken farming, and sago planting for products like noodles and flour.
