About the Presentation
This presentation is an overview of the Soil Regeneration Project, from the guiding questions that led the inception of the project, to the process of the research itself, as well as the key findings of the project. The presentation also includes a section showing the before and after images of the soil in the gardens. This presentation was publicly shared at our first-research sharing event. More details on the event below.
About the Research-Sharing Event
In summer 2024, we held our very first research-sharing event at the Singapore Sustainability Academy (SSA) and had around 50 attendees, consisting of community gardeners, NParks representatives, course participants and friends from our network. The purpose of the event was to share about the research findings with the community in an accessible manner, as we believe that the value of research should be shared with the larger public too.
To make the session accessible, we intentionally designed the program to have space for different voices to be heard instead of a one-way presentation. Alongside the research team’s presentations, we also invited the gardeners to share their experiences from the research project. This served as an opportunity for the gardener’s voices to be heard, helping to bridge the connection between NParks and the community gardeners. This directly supports our ethos that knowledge and research can be found not only in academic or professional circles, but in community as well.
When designing the event, we also included space for our community partners to share their work. This provided the opportunity for us to deepen our connections with our growing community of past participants.
Siglap South CC had a booth at the event, where they shared produce from their gardens and bottles of eco enzyme that they made.
We partnered with local f&b businesses such as Angie’s tempeh and Amanita Kombucha
We specially harvested herbs from Siglap Garden for Amanita Kombucha to brew fermented drinks for the event
Local forager guide and friend, Esmonde, also made and brought fermented drinks for the event.
Through these connections, collaboration, and mutual support, we continue to foster a growing community and cultivate an abundant mindset.
The event was well attended and provided a valuable opportunity for participants to connect and continue conversations beyond the formal programme. Many stayed behind after the session to exchange ideas and get to know one another. The positive response to the event also gave us confidence and insight to develop the Living Earth Festival in 2025.
